The Asian Maritime Law Conference is back for its 4th showing this year, from 19 to 20 May 2011. As with the event's first 3 showings, the Conference will provide an insight into important maritime and legal issues in today’s economy and act as a platform for delegates to mix and mingle with the global legal community.
The themes for the 4th Asian Maritime Law Conference are competition, shipbuilding and arbitration.
Competition: The Conference will explore issues relating to liner agreements, block
exemptions and cabotage.
Shipbuilding: Issues relating to the negotiation and formation of shipbuilding contracts, refund guarantees, insurance against delays, project risk management and default by the shipbuilder or customer will be discussed
Arbitration: Disputes in shipbuilding contracts, like other maritime disputes may need to be referred to arbitration.
The Conference will feature discussions on the new Singapore Sales Form as well as maritime arbitration
within Singapore, under the rules of the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration.
